FARES TO SOUTH AMERICA

As airfares are the biggest expense in going to South America, it is wise to look at various possibilities. For instance, the cheapest airfare may not necessarily give you the best value for money overall. 1. Fares to and from South America on the trans polar flights can for very little extra, be combined with, A) Circle America airfares offering you Mexico, United States and Honolulu, B) Circle Pacific airfares offering you South America, North America and Asian destinations, C) Round the world airfares with a combination of carriers including British Airways, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai International, Qantas, Cathay Pacific and Air New Zealand. D) Special round the world southern hemisphere airfares are available in conjunction with South African Airways.

2. Another route is to fly to Tahiti, connect through Easter Island and Santiago with Lan Chile to other destinations in South America and in combination with other airfares for Circle America and round the world airfares.

3. Flying across the Pacific to the gateway cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco, and connecting from these gateways with Aerolineas Argentinas or Lacsa Airlines of Costa Rica, can offer you interesting stopovers throughout Central America enroute to South America. However, bear in mind that travel via Los Angeles almost doubles the flying time to most South American points.
